Bio

Pascal Monasse got his PhD from Université Paris-Dauphine in 2000 and his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) from École Normale Supérieure de Cachan in 2013. His research focuses on multiple-view stereo reconstruction, including: internal calibration of camera, distortion correction, essential and fundamental matrix estimation, disparity map computation (local and global methods), multiple-view stereo, bundle adjustment… He is also still interested in mathematical morphology, and in particular in hierarchical decompositions of images, such as the component trees and the tree of shapes. He believes in reproducible research and as such is editor in chief of the IPOL journal. His main shorcoming (as a computer vision researcher, that is) may be that he is not fond of deep learning methods. He teaches C++ programming to first and second year students at École des Ponts ParisTech and 3D computer vision at MSc level.
